Very interesting header image. What a gorgeous girl (great teeth too !), and a very thought provoking subject. Personally I am very wary of the technology used by mobile phones, similar concerns exist among scientists regarding wi-fi technology (widely used now for internet connections but banned for example in schools in Sweden) and mobile phone masts. I dislike using mobiles any more than absolutely necessary (even carrying them in your pocket switched on can be dangerous according to some) and would never use wi-fi in my home. I also once turned down an apartment close to a mast due to similar concerns. So you can see my attitude to these risks is entirely different to those of smoking. There are similarities between the history of tobacco and the history of this technology - a product / technology begins to be used, evidence of its danger to human health then begins to emerge later, at a time when that technology / product has become so widely used that it becomes very difficult to put the genie back n the bottle when / if conclusive evidence emerges that confirms its effects on human health. How anyone can think this technology is safe is beyond me, but then how anyone could have thought smoking was safe for so long (500 years!) is beyond me too. I suspect many mobile phone users today try to avoid thinking about the risks involved, like many smokers I imagine. V notes: Just added the image link, and identified the file name / title in the subject line. Absolutely - In this image I'm playing with the parallels between the early public health warnings about the possible risks of cell phones and the established risk understanding of smoking. And I'm also suggesting a certain jaded, "devil may care" attitude for anyone who smokes and also uses a cell phone: "If I'm willing to entertain this absolutely known risk..." Thanks Ross!
