I was under the opposite impression myself, that the smoking fetish was actually one of the most common fetishes. People just seem to be more embarrassed about it, except on the internet. Then there's much larger population segment that would probably never consider it a fetish but find smoking rather sexy.
Or perhaps you're using the term fetish in the clinical sense? In that regard you're probably right, even I don't count by that definition. Smoking is easily in the top 3 (usually #1 but these things vary a bit) when it comes to my turn ones but it's certainly not the only thing capable of turning me on.
