I remember an observation on a SF board many years ago by a poster who called himself Cyclops and who was a psychiatrist: "When it comes to sex, you shouldn't judge normality on the basis of assumptions about what other people do".
That said, I have been searching for years for indications that the smoking fetish is more widespread than the absence of any mention of it in the "mainstream" media would suggest. I have come to the conclusion that it is not, and that we are indeed a small minority. No doubt there are very many other minorities out there, some well documented and some less so. But there seem to be more people whose sexual arousal is not linked to anything as specific as a woman's smoking habit or style.
During my university vacations many years ago (sadly!)I earned money by doing casual labouring jobs. My workmates, like workmen everywhere, would buy and circulate girly magazines, discussing the relative sexiness of the various nude models. I had to pretend to agree... unless one of them happened to be holding a cigarette when pretence immediately became unnecessary. That wasn't important to anyone else.
Consider though, Hey Now: there are advantages to the fetish. Attractive women don't sit down at cafe tables and then proceed to strip naked (at least not where I live). But they do sit down and smoke cigarettes. If you were able to have what you imagine to be "normal" sexual desires, is there any reason to think that they would bring you greater pleasure than what you describe in your post?
