Now I feel utterly outclassed…
I failed Chemistry in High School because it was too much like Algebra, I really suck at maths.
With regard to bongs and such, not that I've ever gone near weed, but I recall reading somewhere that the plastic used in Graffix(sp?) bongs might fit what Benjamin needs, being heat resistant to some extent, and it's apparently non-reactive with chemicals found in that particular smoke. There is also a type of Nylon used in cheap tobacco pipes that is heat resistant and non-toxic.
I think you're right too, about food-grade plastics being safer, I'll have to check my hidden library.
As an alternative to the google search you did, I tried "Glass Blowing Supplies" and got about 339K hits, which may be a way around the ID challenge.
Something else that has occured to me is if Ben was to use something metal to hold the cigarette in the device, which may have the added benefit of dissipating some of the heat in the smoke prior to it's contact with the plastic, a metal pipe will act as a heatsink.
Another way of cooling the smoke would be to pass it through water, as is done in a Narghile (Hookah, Water Pipe etc.). And if one wants to have a really good time, replace the water with an alcoholic beverage, snce alcohol has a low boiling point, some would be boiled off when heated by the smoke, and the vapour would mix with it and be inhaled. This is only my theory, and since I don't drink, I have no direct experience.
Nick
