Posted by vesperae Thanks for clarifying the anatomy for anyone who was unaware. I didn't mention the intervening branches of the respiratory tree because my question was about the individual tract lengths from the trachea (through primary, secondary, and tertiary bronchi and bronchioles) to a given outer alveolar bundle (where tar discoloration would be observable), and if this individual tract length was shorter for the upper lobes of the lungs than for the lower lobes. Interesting comments, although I'm still not understanding the mechanism(s) of top to bottom discoloration that you've observed. Thanks, * * * * *v
