Posted by vesperae Here are some general philosophical questions inspired directly and indirectly by your comments that I think are worth asking and thinking about: What does "Bad" mean? Doesn't the "Badness" of smoking ALWAYS originate in the toxicity of cigarette smoke, and therefore the health and *Risk* implications? (I think that the persistent and seemingly complete disconnect that so many people have about this speaks volumes about the power of denial. It's such an obvious connection that it appears to hide perpetually in plain sight.) Does it have to be an "either/or" thing - you're a "Bad Girl", or you aren't? Isn't it more interesting, and realistic, when it isn't an "either/or" thing? Aren't there always "chicken or the egg" questions about attitude influencing experience, and experience influencing attitude? And doesn't this tend to work both ways, as part of a complex social process? * * * * *vesperae
