Posted by vesperae Sounds like you interpreted this combination of judgmental and envious attitudes from your more "sensible" parents that gave your observations of attractive smoking women a bit of an edge. And I believe that it's responding to just these sorts of social attitudes that plant the seeds of Fetishes in our minds. And since society represses female sexuality especially, doing something that publicly reminds us of it can often be seen as outragous and provocative by more puritantical sensibilities. * * * * *v

To smoke is to repeatedly penetrate the body with something that is deeply and uniquely sensual and satisfying, and in combination with the psychological kick of doing something that you know you shouldn't be doing, does give smoking an almost sexual dimension for both women and men, but the parallels to female sexuality are especially strong.
