Posted by the other Bob on July 24, 2007, 9:36 pm, in reply to "Yes, risk NOT death" John I'm a non-smoking child of two non-smoking parents. For me the attraction is the risk, the bad girl image, the self indulgent living in the moment flair. Sort of the buy now, pay later mentality. I remember going to a party with my parents (at 10) that was filled with sexy 20 something women who were all smokers. The party was at a very nice expensive home as well. I remember my parents talking the whole way home about how much debt they were in and how they were keeping thin and sexy now, but that it would catch up with them later. I remember thinking that these folks must just know something my parents didn't. As a health concious individual I grew to think that smoking must give a woman intense pleasure -- otherwise why take the risk right? --almost a sexual pleasure. The years that followed watching the sexy girls in bikinis on the beach light up pushed me further. The occasional overheard conversations about "needing" a cigarette, or loving one or wanting one, or smoking to keep there weight down only served to re-inforce all this. Well enought about me, we all have our reasons. Bob
Risk yes, death no.
