
Posted by Pete on April 2, 2007, 2:43 pm, in reply to "Re: A picture is worth a thousand words" What I was trying to highlight was that in the thread there was some disscusion (maybe thats a better word for it) where i was trying to point out more so to Marcus and MGF is that i´m not sure the risk element has much attraction for her as regards her smoking. I highlighted the example that if she could suddenly be immune to any of the negative effects of smoking I´m sure she would jump and it and continue to smoke happy as ever. Even with that risk element now completely removed from the equation. As has been pointed out, I can only comment from the point of view of a non and never really get into her head, of this I don’t deny. But still I do stand by that assumption. I suppose this idea actually goes against the founding tenets of this board and especially this weeks header image. As I said many of us on the community are much more in touch with the destruction element but I don’t think you can transpose our views easily onto the more mainstream smoking population. While she is aware of the risks part of her I´m sure believes it will never be her, to a certain extent convinced that she can beat the odds. I suppose in black and white it´s : Denial vs self aware self destruction. I would have to put my girlfriend in the first camp. This post with the image was playing around with that a little bit. Giving (as if you needed it) a look at my perceptions of how I see her. Pete
