Posted by Richard Although I haven't posted anything on the SBD message board for many years, I can claim to have been one of the very first posters on it when the site first appeared in about, as I recall, April 2000. Denise had "advertised" her new site on the Smoke Signals board and when I saw it I was knocked sideways by its quality, in terms of both presentation and content. For a fetishist her narratives were simply mouth-watering; however, in my typically conflicted way, it bothered me that the original version was a little bit less than honest about the downside of smoking and could paint a misleading picture for girls who read it and took its advice seriously. I suggested to Denise that for the sake of balance she might like to include a section on the pros and cons of smoking. Happily, she accepted that suggestion. What she produced was, for me, the most erotic page on the whole site. If you still have the "cons" page in your files somewhere, Vesperae, you might like to reproduce it here. As I recall, Denise warned potential smokers above all about the "loss of control" which would result from becoming a regular smoker. One phrase which I remember ran something like: "You will have to ensure that you always carry cigarettes with you or face the consequences of withdrawal. Are you prepared for that?" For someone like me who is attracted to the addiction aspect of smoking it was captivating stuff. I also found it ironic to compare the respective importance of the pros and the cons which Denise identified. (I expect this in particular would appeal to Pete.) Among the cons were aspects like: it is bad for your health and might kill you; among the pros were: it helps with weight loss and gives you an excuse for smoke breaks at work. To a dispassionate observer you might regard the former as carrying a lot more weight than the latter, yet the way Denise presented them you got the impression that the glamour aspects of smoking far outweighed the health risks. Most of the old site was resurrected by old admirers and was available to read until recently, but right now I can't get any link to it to work. One section which did not survive was the section on inhales from which you quote above. If you have kept any more of that section I'd be interested to see it. It truly was a sensational piece of work.
