Posted by vesperae Very interesting! Thank you so much for sharing that! Your 43 year old with pneumonia certainly illustrates the power of the psychological addiction of smoking, doesn't she? Her nicotine withdrawal must have been just about completely resolved by the time that she was discharged, and even with all of the obvious incentive to quit, she obviously continues to long for the unique way that only smoking can make us feel. I also really appreciated your comments here and in Pete's recent thread about the way that denial and acceptance of the Risks of smoking work together and balance each other in our minds. This relationship certainly seems to have factored into your reactions to your recent hospital experiences! * * * * *vesperae
