Hi M G F! ![]()
Regarding early development (from Part 1)...
Given your early body awareness and desire to fully experience smoking, were you also eager to explore your sexuality? And did you ever include smoking in your early sexual experimentation? And when did you begin to find smoking to be a sexual turn on?
Regarding Marlboro Reds (from Part 1)...
Interesting. It sounds like you saw them as being the ultimate in "Bad" for a young girl - if you could get the hang of smoking these, then there could be no doubt in your mind or anyone else's that you were a "real" smoker?
"It isn't so much arrested development as it is retarded development, similar to what is observed in people who like in extremely polluted environments. The difference is that the pollution is concentrated and the onslaught is sudden. As you point out, there is still some growth, but it is slower and it is different. The changes that take place have the effect of the lungs development ceasing within a few years of when the person begins smoking on a regular basis. [...]"
That makes sense. Thank you for the clarification!
"Interestingly, there is some indication that the risk is notably higher for women who start smoking in their twenties when their bodies are undergoing the final stages of maturation."
Interesting! I'd love to hear more about this!
Regarding smoking at the hospital...
What are the thoughts and feelings about smoking among both your smoking and non-smoking co-workers? The obvious contradicion of a health care worker smoking certainly must make for some interesting reactions and conversation! ![]()
"I think that for women in particular, the similarities of satisfying our addiction to nicotine and desire for sex are much greater. In both cases we are meeting a very real need by bringing something into our bodies and then letting it out. While inside us it changes through its interaction and leaves something behind."
Definitely. The parallels between the two are striking and are rooted in very primitive and fundamental notions of the feminine!![]()
"Smoking was a very definite part of my sexual experimentation in college, although my partners, male and female, rarely knew it. I'm afraid that is a topic for another time, though."
I look forward to it!![]()
