More about above in a mo, and before anyone says it, I know we're not going into the Elite League, so don't all three of you start shouting "don't you read the Chron!"
Irwin - class act. Better at 1-on-1 than Mikko. I heard Ferone is on a 2 year contract, so hopefully he'll be back.
Hope Willy is.
With a potentially stable higher league to look at, it will be interesting who stays.
My initial point about which league we are in is this:
What happens if, out of the BNL, say Coventry, Dundee, Edinburgh, Cardiff, Basingstoke and, perhaps Fife, all opt to take a step up to Elite level, and only two teams step down to BNL. that leaves the BNL in the shitty position that ISL was in this year, without enough teams to make it interesting.
Then, the BNL looks at it that way and reassesses its future and merges with English league, forming a larger group there. We could be looking at lower level hockey next season, with lower wages and not as attractive as BNL to imports such as Irwin etc.
I think there's more going to happen in close season than simply a couple of teams swapping leagues.
