Well, we are coming towards the close of the season and I would like to share a few thoughts and hopefully start some debate, sparking life back into what used to be a cracking forum.
Take tonight for example. basic things were missed, like announcing Cardiff back to full strength. Why? because he was trying to be cool and chatting to Trummer when he should have been watching the game. He always does it, pissing around when he should be doing his job. Let's not even get started on the stupid comments, such as call the cops, theres been a robbery and yeah baby or the nicknames - Mike the missing Lank Lankshear.
Why does he always insist on not announcing the opponent players as they come onto the ice. He lists them about 20 minutes before face-off, but it's just courtesy to do so as they come onto the ice.
Lets get rid of the singing bint as well.
While we are talking about coming onto the ice. It's been crap all season, but they are at least trying now. However, the music is not loud enough and the announcer shouldn't have to turn it down to give the names. Welcome to the Jungle? Not bad, but I'm sure there could be better (so long as it's not Poison, by Alice Cooper).
We should never have got rid of Trembecky, and it was a shame to see Malo go, so what have we got left?
Imports first:
MIKKO isn't on top form at the moment possibly cos he's been injured but he doesn't look the same guy.
TRUMBLEY and FERONE are playing on reputations alone at the moment, but Ferone is at least trying. He came to us with a reputation as a hard-hitting high scorer, but has done neither with any regularity, but I'd have him back if he can start doing that.
TRumbley is ok, but has been a disappointment this year. WILSON should be captain, as he has been one of the few (3)exciting players to watch going forward, and is one of only 2 who look solid at the back.
CAMPBELL is the other and isnt the thug I thought he would be. I'd have him back.
IRWIN is the only really exciting player we have at the moment and would be my first choice for coming back.
LORENZ is ok, but doesn't keep hold of the puck enough. Other teams are getting too many chances on the rebound.
LANKSHEAR should stay as a forward, where he is dangerous, but not as a d-man.
WALLACE is very promising and should definitely be given another season.
TANT, CULLEY, WALL, and POTTS are all doing ok and are probably worth another season, although they all need to step up a bit more, especially Culley, who seems to be a confidence player.
THORNTON, DEFTY and BOWMAN are not up to the standard we need, but haven't disgraced themselves.
LEACH started really well and I was impressed, but since CHristmas has gone downhill fast and really needs to find his form again.
KING is a donkey, but provided one of the most hilarious moments of the season in his only appearance against Coventry. Clyde sent the guy on, he went to do a big hit and missed by about 5 foot, plastering himself against the plexi.
MILLIE needs to be brought in full time.
