Posted by Anon on 15/11/2002, 12:21:10 Having divisions next season is unrealistic. Who is to say who is the best teams and it is unfair to say the ISL ones would automatically go into the top division. Maybe a North and South division with teams playing teams in their own division twice home and away and the other division once home and away and then look at going to divisions the following year after everyone has played under the same rules if this is the approach that people want. However there are problems with this approach as one division may end up being stronger than the other. This would be interesting for the fans though with a huge variety of games to watch. I for one am pleased that the BNL dont seem to be rolling over to the superleague. At the end of the day they are running a successful league and the import based, flash the cash league is folding. I know what Id prefer!! Sheffield have gone over the wage cap year in year out and I agree with the BNL and I dont trust them! The superleague teams need to stick to the rules and not come in and think they can take over. The BNL is in the driving seat here. Im interested to see what does happen. I am enjoying watching the British players again and dont want to return import filled hockey.

Sources have informed me that the ISL Teams can apply to join the BNL for next year but are not guaranteed a place. The leagues will not merge though!! They dont trust them to stick to the wage cap and brits rule. Blazer said in powerplay he would consider having a couple of Brits but thats it. Also that the BNL should chuck out Solihull and Edinbrough in favour of the ISL teams. Unfair!! These teams may not have the strongest rosters but they are working to what they can afford. Why punish them for having less money and sticking to a smaller budget. Not every team can flash the cash like they can but looking at the ISL the way it is now it has not been successful has it? They have not been sticking to wage caps and they have had to fold. The fans that I know around the ISL are bored.
