We have meet a few times and talked about it and he has gone as far as to contact the AFTER THE BATTLE publishers with his ideas and objectives. I do have about 600 panoramic photos from all over the city, many of very obscure battle locations like the “Little & Big Mushroom” Soviet defensive position near the suburbs of Spartanovka and Rynok. Security is the biggest hindrance in doing a project like this. It is two-fold, first the local building security or police get very nervous when you start taken pictures outside their buildings, even when you have permission. It has happen 50 times to me and you can waste hours trying to explain what you are doing or trying to get permission again. Secondly, there are some areas of the city where you might need personally security. Volgograd is almost a million people and they have their troublesome parts of city just as all big cities do.
I been trying for three years to take pictures and video from the top and inside from the famous Grain Elevator in the southern part of the city. My goal is to show the Soviet defenders view and perspective during the battle. I was 100% approved to do this last year before the bombing on the two Russian airliners and then after the attacks everything stopped in its tracks. I have not given up by a long shot and I will have three attempts this year.
