I was intrigued by the suggestion that the 24th Panzer Division might have taken the grain elevator before it was occupied by the Soviets. On a whim I went to Bing and got a satellite view of the grain elevator. I noted the tall rectangular tower at the southwestern end and the shorter adjacent section which appears to consist of multiple silos. I was surprised to see a second silo section just northeast of the first. Since it seems to be missing from 1942 photos I've seen (including the aerial photo on p. 157 of Glantz's book), I assume the second section was added after the battle.
I'm definitely looking forward to the last volume in this series.
