Great. I hope you can get the link. My earliest relation Joseph Spiers was born in Glasgow about 1700 and married an Elizabeth. His son David was also born in Glasgow about 1730/33. He died in France where I still have a Spiers cousin. David emigrated to France in 1776 was a merchant dealing in tobacco. So he may have known the Glasgow Speirs/Spiers merchants. The family has the company Spiers & Pond in it.
Good luck
Ron

: Hello Ron,
: Yes I received your email, sorry
: about not responding sooner, we have
: just moved out of one house and into
: another on a temporary basis. Also
: planning a trip to Ireland and
: Scotland which we leave August third
: and I am still working full time, so
: very busy. so let me begin by saying
: thank you for your information. I
: just got off the phone with my
: genealogist in Scotland who is doing
: the research on the Speirs side. It
: is looking very favourable that we
: are indeed related to Alexander. We
: are pretty sure Our John speirs is
: brother to alexander. But at the
: moment we have no documented proof.
: We have the marriage but believe it
: or not it does not list the grooms
: father instead it lists the brides
: father William Cunningham esquire.
: So we are going to go further back
: and find the births of John,
: Alexander and James with father John
: the merchant from edinburgh. We have
: the wills of the siblings from our
: John so will be looking at that this
: week. If you find out anything about
: alexanders brothers please share.
: Cheers
: all the best for your time and
: consideration
