I have a copy of The Housekeeper, No 4, Vol 1, dated Jan 1st 1880. On page 21 is a list of the Wines and Spirits they sell, there are 27 Ports. They date from 18 months old to bottled in 1849. Prices are from 25 shillings to 125 shillings a dozen. I could photocopy the page and email it to you.

: A co-author and I are writing a book
: on vintage port, and have found in
: Recollections of Old Country Life
: (1894), J K Fowler, a mention: “I
: sold six dozen of the original port
: to Messrs. Spiers & Pond through
: their well-known buyer Mr. William
: Hudson, at a moderate price”.
:
: So S&P were selling port. Please,
: does anybody have copies of The
: Housekeeper? Does it list the
: vintage ports for sale? If so,
: please please contact me, either via
: my ‘public email’
: jdawiseman@gmail.com, or using the
: contact information on
: http://www.jdawiseman.com/author.html
:
: Thank you.
