A co-author and I are writing a book on vintage port, and have found in Recollections of Old Country Life (1894), J K Fowler, a mention: “I sold six dozen of the original port to Messrs. Spiers & Pond through their well-known buyer Mr. William Hudson, at a moderate price”.
