Capt in Royal Navy Reserve. Manager of Messrs Humphreys, Tennant & Co. of Deptford. Left in 1908 to manage La Societad Espanola de Construction Naval in Spain. M.I.Mar.E., M.I.Nav.Arct. Retired in 1925. See Obit in The Engineer July 19 1935.
GRO ref 2b/93 Jul-Sep 1935 aged 77 Eastbourne.
See Navy List 1899/1908/1915 for a Harry James Spiers, Senior Engineer RN Reserve, seniority 11 Aug 1897. Retired on 22 Oct 1912 as Chief Engineer.
Probable marriage Dec 1882 Greenwich 1d/1397.
He may be the Harry J Spiers who was born in 1858 at Loose or Lewes in Kent, an Engineer (15898) on the 'Argo' on 1 Jan 1883 to 1 Jan 1886. Ref CLIP 1885 76913 POR. Also on the 'Langdon' on 1 Jan 1882.
