Marilee's message was very thorough and covered everything basically. For the first few months I never felt like I had enough breastmilk either. I blamed it on using pumps at first. I ended up nursing with very little formula until they were 15 months.
I think worrying about it makes it worse too. After a while I decided to stop supplementing and pumping and just nurse. My boys were always little, but their growth paralleled the growth charts. They're 3 and are actually on the charts now. I'm short so I think it's mostly genetics.
The other thing is sleep. When I got good sleep (at least 4 hours in a row, or after a nap) my milk was always better. Now looking back I think that lack of sleep was my biggest problem. Maybe you could recruit your husband to use formula for one feeding a night at first so you can catch up on your sleep. Then during the day you can really focus on nursing, but be rested.
Last of all, don't beat yourself up if you do use formula. I got a little crazy and felt so horrible if my boys had formula. Hormones!! Now looking back, I know I put way too much pressure on myself. Don't make the same mistake.
