At that early age, the afternoon probably isn't on its way out, although it is a possibility. You could try pushing both naps back later to see if that works, but if it's too late, the afternoon nap could interfere with bedtime if it's too late. I have used the book Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child alot, and if I remember right, it says that the morning nap does start to happen later and later until it merges with the afternoon nap around 15-18 months or so. It also helps to really stimulate children in the morning with light and play to wear them out for naptime.
My boys grew in some molars around 15 months which really interfered with sleep for a few weeks. Could teething be the culprit?
