Hi Kari,
I have not stayed at the Days Inn in Hotel Circle, however, the area is very central to many attractions (old town, Sea World, Downtown, and etc.).
As for the Zoo, San Diego Zoo and the Wild Animal Park can are different experiences. At the Wild animal Park, you can observe animals in their natural habitat. However, the park is more in-land, therefore, hotter during summer time. A lot of these animals like to hide under trees and take their naps and they nap quite far away sometimes. You might see more animals in action at the San Diego Zoo during this time of the year. The San Diego Zoo is quite amazing. he Wild animal Park is about 30 to 45 minutes drive from Hotel Circle area.
AS for Beach, I would suggest the beach on the Coronado Island and La Jolla Shores. The waves at these two places are small and the area is very nice and clean. The sand on Coronado Beach is very soft and the historic landmark is right next to the beach, the Hotel Del Coronado.
I hope this information helps.
Sandy
