Hi Julie,
I was wondering how your potty training issue was going. I have 4 year old frat boys and had a heck of a time training ONE of them. The one, who I thought was going to give me troubles, was the easy one. Now I have a stubborn boy who still has “accidents” – mostly because he’s so active he just doesn’t have the time to go in the toilet…(or so he says).
The mistake I had in the beginning was I needed to potty train myself. I had a hard time remembering to remind them to go potty. That’s when I was introduced to “The Potty Watch”. You can purchase them at Kid to Kid for $10 and they come in three colors (I think). Anyway, you set the timer (30 min-60 min-or 90 min) and it will play a catchy tune and light up as a reminder that it’s time to try and potty. They are a little bulky, and not practical to wear - so I clipped them to the boys' belt loops. It was actually a great tool for me, because again, I’d loose track of time and forget to see if the boys needed to go. Consistency is they key!!!
I also printed them each a potty chart online and gave the boys a small sticker for going #1 and a large sticker for #2. That worked for a long, long time.
Like I said, I’m still having issues with one of my twins - - who must just have a small bladder because he goes every 20 minutes or so. His pre-K teacher even asked if he had a physical problem because he goes so much, but I’ve been assured by his doc, that he’s just fine as long as he’s allowed to go in school so he doesn’t get infections.
E me if you want to chat further..
