Posted by Wendy If your twins were born early, feeding might be a challenge for a while. Just hang in there and don't give up. Here's what I did and wish I had known: 1. A twin nursing pillow is a must. You can actually buy one here in SLC from a store called Lactation Station on HIghand Drive and just north of 3300 S. When you nurse 2 at once put them on the couch next to where you'll be sitting. Then sit down and get set up with your pillow. Finally put each baby on in the football hold. Make sure you have everything you need within reach before you get set up (remote, phone, snack, burp cloths, etc). Just as a funny note: All I have to do now is sit on the couch with my pillow and my boys bee line to me. 2. Don't do bottles for the first month if possible. That could cause nipple confusion which would make nursing more difficult. This will be more demanding on you so try to sleep when the babies are and get as much outside help as possible. 3. After the first month start introducing bottles and give them bottles regularly to give you a break and to keep them used to using bottles. (I didn't do this and after 6 months, one baby would not take a bottle at all) 4. Don't stress about your milk supply. I had to pump a lot at first because my boys were in the NICU and I never seemed to pump enough after the first month or so. However, when I nursed exlusively, they seemed content. I came to believe that I just didn't let down well enough when I was pumping. Make sure you get as much sleep as possible because lack of sleep and stress will decrease milk. I almost completely dried up when the boys came home from the NICU because of lack of sleep. 5. After that first month, don't be to worried about using a little formula. I would have given my boys one bottle of formula once a day if I were to do it all over again. That will take some pressure of you and give you a break. Let me know if you have any more questions. We can definitely chat.

Hi, I know how you're feeling. My twins are now 13 months and I can't get them to stop nursing, but it was not like that at the beginning.
