Our boys had similar problems. We were prescribed Zantac, and 1/2 dozen other meds... nothing really seemed to work. A friend recommended Grip Water - within a few minutes we had completely different kids. No more fussing and they nursed 100% better. You have to get it at the health store. Wild Oats has the best price. There are several brands, but Baby Bliss is the best. I told my Pediatrician about it and she did some research - said it was perfectly ok to give them, it's all natural - a mixture of ginger, fennel and chamomile. It was a true life saver for us.
