With all 5 of my kids I put them in a bed by time they were one. I think it is easier to train them when they are younger that when they get older and more resitant. I also did the 5 min. thing.. you go through a good bedtime re. and them lay them down and tell them good night, leave the room and wait 5 min. if you need to hold the door shut and after 5 min. go in and lay them down again, go out and this time wait 10 min. each time you leave add 5 min. I did this with my first child and it was hard at first but my the end of the week I could just say good night and that was that. I also put some stories on a cd and them music and that helps them relax and keeps their minds of something besides getting out of bed.
