spirituality in martial arts

Salaam alaikum,
I am interested in studying Silat because of its association to Islam. Unfortunately I do not have access to a Silat teacher and have been looking at various other systems such as tai chi and bagua zhang. My question is do the spiritual teachings of these other systems, considering they have foundations in taoism and buddhism etc, contradict islamic teachings? The reason I ask is because some of the arts involve initiation rituals. I appreciate your advice on this matter.
