Good day to you Ariffin Sir!! Any chance you could take a few moments for me please as your opinion would be appreciated?
Every so often I go to the book shop, grab a read on martial arts, sit down with a coffee and indulge. This week I had a friend accompany me who is also a student of the arts.
Whilst reading a book on some of the chinese arts, he commented that by doing so I was being disloyal to my teacher. I explained that I read books on other styles to look for similarities between them, and also to reinforce some of the techniques you have taught me as it is very rare to find books on silat.
As I feel loyalty is a principle that should never be compromised, my question is. Is there any substance to my friends opinion? Alternatively is the debate so ridiculous it doesn't deserve the time or the effort!
