Posted by Kozure Martial arts my friend are 'WAR ARTS' men used them as a unarmed or empty hand techniques in battle. The so called martial arts of Japan, ju-jitsu was an art when the samurai lost his sword he would use the fatest/dirtiest way for him to take somebodies sword so he could continue to fight. but now you see it sport orientated. When it comes to to self persavation/self defence/self protection when your walking down the street with you wife/mother/sister/kids, you would be a fool to try protecting them in an honorable manner. There is no such thing as dirty in a street or military conflict. The leaders of CQC or MartialArts in the true sense (in western world), Rex Applegate, Faibairn, Sykes and so on never said to play by rules. In 'Get Tough' which was taught to allied forces to fight the Germans was not 'honourable' or 'nice' or 'fun' but was down the nitty gritty reality of fighting, or people dying. A few arts have remainded true to their origins and silats one of them. kind regards, p.s. it seems as though you dont know the reality of fighting or being hurt. you really need to have a reality check.

I dont practise Silat, I look beyond the 'politically correct' stance of watered down sport orientated 'martial-arts' which you are talking about.
