Is your steer by himself? If so I would get him a pen mate,If not another calf I have heard of horse people using goats to keep there stud horses calm. I have even seen them at the shows in the stalls. You could start giving him Melatonin in his feed way before you go to any show. I have found nothing works well if they are already aggitated.

: Our steer is causing problems at the shows. He
: walks well at home, but when you take him to
: a show he is a bundle of nerves. He is out
: of control. We were finally able to get him
: to the show ring, but he would not settle
: down. Anything new just throws him into a
: tail spin. We are almost ready to give up
: because we do not see much improvement. We
: know that he will never make it to our state
: fair and we really question our county fair.
: Yes, we have tried calf calm and even some
: ace. He acts like he never had any. He is a
    : head case. Any suggestions?
