I'm pretty sure it would be black since Black is the dominate gene. The cow and the bull would both have to carry a red gene (recessive) for there to be a chance for a red calf. I think the gray mousy color you're talking about is caused by a diluter gene. PB Maines nor PB Red Angus carry a diluter gene as far as I know.
