Also, take into consideration that he may be a THC. I know that's the wrong thing to say but if he is, you'll probably want to cut him. Unless you have a big name it's hard to market a THC bull.

: I'd cut him. Great club calf bulls are few
: and far between. There are only a handful
: born every year. There is no use in leaving
: him a bull if he isn't that
: "great" one. For good functional
: cattle with good maternal traits, easy
: calving, and easy fleshing Heat Wave is not
: the bull of choice so many potential
: customers will move on when they find out he
: is a Heat Wave. There are so many ways to
: screw up a whole cow herd just by AI'ing
: that most people won't take the chance of
: doing it with a herd bull also. There are a
: million Heat Wave's bulls out there, a
: couple are good, the rest are just average
: bulls that people promoted because the calf
: is a Heat Wave and they think that's what
: you have to do to become big in the
    : industry.
: Cut the calf, sell him as a steer, and move
: on. You'll get the same amount of money
: either way and there are a lot more good
: things going for him as a steer than as a
: bull. You will also never have to worry
: about the buyer getting mad after he has to
: pull half the calves and looses 1/4 of them.
: Chances are he isn't even going to be that
: great of a bull. Just get rid of the risk of
: getting yourself in any bad situations and
: cut the calf. As soon as you sell him you'll
: never have to worry about him again.
