We get after them with a hot shot sometimes too to "motivate" them get them moving. I figured that might sound a little harsh in writing though.
--Previous Message-- : I'm sorry for your tough luck, so much for : those calving ease clubbies huh??? : : I have found it best to REALLY try to get : the heifer up ASAP, by about any means : possible. Try a sling (I haven't had much : luck with those), halter....and IF ALL ELSE : FAILS (and I know it sounds bad) but try a : hot shot A FEW TIMES. The longer she is : down, the more damage she might get and the : harder it will be to get her up. : Lots of bedding, and roll her twice a day to : the opposite side she is laying on. : Your vet gave good advice....keep her on : those!!! : Might also try and email DL (she post on : this board)....she was a great help to me : when I had a similiar situation!! : I wish you the best of luck.....sometimes : hard work and patience does pay off in this : situation, but don't get your hopes up. : :
