Over the years...our best calves have been from our herd bulls. Sadly, when it comes time to sell them many want an AI calf. Its fustrating when they'd rather pay more for an AI calf that isn't nearly the calf the herdsire calf is. Just a fact of life. We AI as many as we can and make sure we have a really solid herd bull for clean up. If we have a cow that clicks with that herd bull though, we forget about AI and turn her out with the bull.
