Clipping shorthorns- help

Okay so I've been talked into sticking and fitting a string of shorthorns, I've avoided the shorthorn barns thus far and not entirely sure if they're doing anything different then the angus guys.

the one thing I did notice they do different is the tails.... where do they start clipping the tail, and how high do they go up on it?
