We have a cow that we just bought on a sale, she is a 7 year old McCarney cow that just calved on friday. She is an extremely heavy milking cow, almost holstein like, and her calf has not gotten on the back 2 teats. Our initial thought was to milk them out, but since she calved she is too hard to handle, and doesn't want us anywhere near her. I was just wondering if he doesn't get on those back teats pretty soon, are they going to stop producing, or develop mastitis? and if he never gets going on them will she have problems with them with subsequent calves? For right now her front teats are supporting him just fine.
