I agree that the bull does have an impact on disposition. I think the cow has more. Cows that are high strung tend to pass that along. If that calf hits the ground and mama runs from every human or animal she sees than the calf just acts like mama. I see that in flush mate calves all the time where they act totally differant based on the cow that raises them. as far as steers go. we started casterating much younger than we used to and that made a huge differance in how they were to break.

: I agree that bull choice has as much impact on
: disposition as it does on calving weights.
: How can a person blame a big calf 100% on
: the bull, but then turn around and have a
: crazy calf and not blame the bull for his
: share of the genetics? There are three
: factors that determine the outcomes of EVERY
: calf. The Bull, the Cow, the Environment.

: I think the bull has a lot to do with

: Some of the best disposition calves that we
: have had were heat waves and sun seekers. As
: far as using a bull for next year i really
: like sun seeker and heat wave or heat wave
: clones. there is nothing hotter than these
: two bulls right now.

: I honestly don't think the bull has anything
: to do with disosition. Its all in the
: environment. If you start the calf at a
: young age, and work hard, it will be tame.

: What bulls sire calves w/the best
: dispositions
: on a regular basis? Also anyone got calves
: out of Killer Instinct, Naughty Pine, or
: Smooth Sailing? I need to find some bulls
: that will add a little depth, smooth up the
: cows, and finish in the end of July. I was
: also considering Golden Child or Warrant.
