Heifer not calming down

We have a heifer that my 13 yr old little sister is showing and she gets a bit on the spooky side when she goes to new places. She has been halter broke for over 2 months now and we work our calves just about everyday for bout 3 hours. We walk them up and down our almost 1/2 of a mile long lane and we work them as much as we can. At shows we have to walk her tied off to another heifer to tie-outs and we also have to dose her up on melatonin. But sometimes the melatonin doesn't help. If you have any suggestions on calming her down I would really appreciate it Thank you!!!!!
