Feeding Beet Pulp

Can anyone tell me if there is a problem in feeding beet pulp to young heifers (6 - 7 mos)
We are thinking about mixing beet pulp into the feed for our replacement heifers in order to keep them from getting too fat. Is this ok to do or are there other suggestions. Thanks for any responses.
