: Fresno State has the "Red Wave Sale"
: in January they always have a good set of
: calves and something for everyone. You can
: Google the sale and see past Champs and some
: of the steer calves that they have had and
: make contact with Randy Perry at the college
: he can probably help with finding a good
: Herford calf. In addition that would be the
: Schnoors, if you are inclined to contact
: them, I am sure they would be glad to offer
: any advice. I have pulled up quite a few of
: the California Shows in the past and it
: seems most have breed shows, so the Herford
: would be a good first or any year choice.
: The best thing you could do is try and find
: online premium books for the show(s) you
: might go to and see what they have.

: I would not get a hereford, most judges
: perfer
: blacks and its easier to win with a black
: steer. I would go angus, chi, maine,
: simmital or a combination of these. I dont
: know what part of cali you are from but if
: you can get ahold of the schooners in
: chowchilla, ca they could probably tell you
: where to look.
