Fresno State has the "Red Wave Sale" in January they always have a good set of calves and something for everyone. You can Google the sale and see past Champs and some of the steer calves that they have had and make contact with Randy Perry at the college he can probably help with finding a good Herford calf. In addition that would be the Schnoors, if you are inclined to contact them, I am sure they would be glad to offer any advice. I have pulled up quite a few of the California Shows in the past and it seems most have breed shows, so the Herford would be a good first or any year choice. The best thing you could do is try and find online premium books for the show(s) you might go to and see what they have.

: I would not get a hereford, most judges perfer
: blacks and its easier to win with a black
: steer. I would go angus, chi, maine,
: simmital or a combination of these. I dont
: know what part of cali you are from but if
: you can get ahold of the schooners in
: chowchilla, ca they could probably tell you
: where to look.
