Posted by CreativeUtopia on 1/7/2005, 12:09 pm It has been "a while" since the last time i am active on this board. What brings me back tonite? I cannot believe i saw her singing live on the above show, the PRESENT Shirley Kwan...my godness...I was really in speechless hapiness seeing her great performance in the middle part of the 7 hours unprecedented marathon charity show. Don't misinterprete my excitement at this supposedly sad sad sad moment for southern Asia tsunami striken countries. I am from Penang, Malaysia which is one of the lightly striken state in the issue. i had been hooked on the CNN since the 5th hour after the wave stroke on that beautiful Sunday 26 Dec 2004, when everyone around the world underestimate the magnitude of this disaster. Since this is a Shirley Kwan board, i withold critical issues related to the tsunami. I am sure many of u here who are in HK will somehow tune to this big show. Yet, because it is a 7 hour marathon, u mihgt not stay tuned through out the whole course and might miss Shirley's part somewhere in teh middle of the evening slot.....i can't remember well but i think i saw it live at around 10 to 11pm TONIGHT. Thus, i must send this message of joy to Shirley's group.... Tonight when i was watching the live show, somehow deep in my mind i had been hoping for a surprise....since the core coordinator is Eric Tsang i really put high hope on my speculation Shirley must be on the RARE list tonite...and she was........i nearly missed her part!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just one minute away when i came down from shower to my living hall and could not believe my eyes ... She sang "This is love" and somehow her part is a little special from the others because she was accompanied by a picture run down on the big screen behind her showing the missing ones in Phuket....adding heavy dose of sadness to her part...while other singer just have a screen showing themselves. At the end of her song, i think she was a little nervous and did not get through her words of encouragement and calls for fund smoothly...she was sort of a little repetative in her words but anyhow...what she wanna mean is that she hope her gesture of joining this event tonite can help the fund raising event. I was one of the slightly dissapointed one on her performance in Freezing Flame (it is subjective, we've argued bout that, leave it there) and i heard that her live show in 1999 (if i am not mistaken) was somewhat not a perfect show.....Of coruse, through out 2001 till 2004, there has been rumour saying that some management will hold a concert for her in 2004 and as u know, we are in 2005 now and nothing happens. I think everyone is NUMB to dissapointment...or we could use a positive word....we are getting used to dissapointment anyway..;-] It was tonight, it was tonight that I am reassured that she is really still capable of tapping on the height of performance she used to have back in her active years. SHE IS just AS SPLENDID. I am happy for her. What HK artists did tonite was a touching event, no doubt to that. Many things that happened in the past few weeks makes me think that humanity is not "that" bad afterall...but at the end of the day, a charity show only quench the thirst of immediate cries, the fundamental flaws of MANY things in the world are rooted STUPID POLITICIANS. I spare my deep felt respect to two kinds of people in times of crisis: Tomorrow is another day,
