OK guys, I am now convinced that was not accumulated snow that I saw and posted in that pic. Whatever it was, I still had one hail of a hike!

: This happens every year, definitely
: hail and not snow. One year there
: was almost a foot of hail that fell
: in the wilderness and the peaks
: remained white for 2 days in the
: middle of summer. The earliest
: snowfall thats been recorded up
: there in the past 10 years was on
: September 26th back in 2007. It also
: snowed at Mt High ski resort and Mt
: Baldy resort as well as Onyx summit
: that day and was one of the coldest
: documented storms during summer in
: So Cal history. Still have video of
: me and friends snow boarding on 3
: inches of snow at the top of mthigh
: that day!

: From Yucaipa this afternoon, when
: the
: major T-storm finally cleared, I
: could see the white coating from San
: Bernardino Peak eastward to
: Anderson/Shields. No doubt hail, but
: really nice to see with all this
: heat going on.

: Beautiful pics, John, especially
: that
: last one. I'm willing to bet, based
: on experience, that what you saw was
: hail rather than proper snow, but
: cool stuff!

: Yes it did. Hiked Momyer today to
: Just
: above Plummer Meadows. Was headed to
: Dollar lake saddle but a major
: snow/hail storm turned me around and
: pounded me all the way back down.
: Beautiful weather in the AM. Then
: just before noon temp dropped about
: 40% in 15 min's and then all sh#t
: hit the fan. So be safe and stay
: ready.
