Bear canisters from Mill Creek Ranger station?

First time up the mountain and planning on renting a canister from the ranger station. Are they available? Do I need to "reserve" one? How about returning after hours? Want to have my bases covered and not have to scramble at the last minute. Should I just rent one from elsewhere for peace of mind? Help.
