since you are headed for the peak, you might consider SF trail to dry lake or mineshaft flats, then to the peak. It is a long way to San G from Dobbs camp site. Fish creek is also a nice trail, but rough road to get there. If you go Vivian, then High creek is a great spot and only 3 more miles to the peak. It will be colder at 9'000 ft.

: Thanks so much Barbara. We're trying
: to find a spot to camp on the way to
: the peak. I'll definitely look into
: your suggested route -- and thanks
: for the weather update! I'm siked
: about the cooler weather!

: are you hiking/camping or also going
: to the peak? One of my favorite
: campsites is Dobbs cabin - 5 miles
: in on Momyer trail (which becomes
: falls creek). This is the creek that
: becomes Big Falls. Alger creek camp
: is only 3.8 miles in on the same
: trail, but feels cold and down in a
: gully, so to speak. The only others
: on Vivian are Vivian camp at the
: beginning or high creek at 5 miles
: in. Hopefully you'll get some posts
: re camps on the SF side. By the way
: - it is windy and 38 degrees today
: at my elevation of 5800. Weekend
: supposed to be warmer. Happy hiking

: Hi All,
:
: We had been planning to camp at
: Halfway camp on the Vivian Creek
: Trail but just checked this site
: again and saw that it's closed.
:
: Any recommendations as to other
: trails/camps to look into? We've
: heard of some snowfall and whatnot
: and want to make sure we're
: well-prepared for the weekend.
:
: Any comments are appreciated!
: Thanks.
