Howdy All,

I appreciate and welcome everyone's advice and opinions regarding wearing a helmet on this route in the summer. I have a lot to learn about climbing and have great respect for experienced climbers such as my friend Kathy W

I planned to buy a helmet last Thursday. My Honda's air conditioning went out that morning. I spent Thursday afternoon at the dealership and had to return Friday morning so they could install a part -- $600 later. I needed to get to Lone Pine to obtain my permit before the agency closed.

I will have a helmet the next time I go up the route.
