Man what can I say this last weekend was awesome. It started with an idea Simon from Calvary Revival had. Idea was simple, bunch of brothers in Christ would hike to Dry Lake on Saturday and summit San Gorgonio on Sunday. Only they needed a brother in Christ to lead them. That's where our very own Doogieman came in. Doogieman is not a guide but let me say I've paid many guides to lead me in the mountains and Doogie kick's their butt. So when Doogie asked me to come along and help him guide them I was stoked, and honored. Leading fellow christian brothers in the mountains I wasn't going to pass this up. We thought 8ish would be a good start time so I got to the South Fork TH at 8am. I ended up waiting till 9am and when nobody showed up I headed to the lake by myself, thinking was it the 19th or the 20th I was supposed to hook up with these dudes??? Got to the Lake and the only one there was Mike from this site. Talked to Mike for a few minutes, Mike hope to see you this winter in the backcountry. After I set up camp I was thinking I'm here might as well summit. Ended up summiting around 4pm. Took some pictures left a log then headed back for the lake. When I got to camp there was nobody there, Bummer...Needed some water, btw Lodgepole has water but need a filter. On the way over ran into Doogie yaa....Moved my tent over to lodgepole and it was like Everest Base camp. Never seen so many people at Dry Lake. It made Trail Camp Whitney seem empty. Anyways great night we sang worship songs, prayed, told stories and had communion. Doogie was thinking no way I would summit again with the group and I was thinking I didn't want to summit again but I was having so much fun with these brothers I was like yea why not. We set off at 5am in the morning and ended up summiting around 10am. Not bad time for the big group we had. Happy to report no injuries on the way down except for some blisters....Got back to the TH around 3:30 and had chips and salsa with some of the bros. Great time, like always, in the San Gorgonio Wilderness. Doogie it was great climbing with you again, Simon thanks for putting this together, Fernando man keep in touch. Pastor Tim hope to come out to your church one of these days...Ben thanks for the music man you rock!
