Ha!...Not laughing at you Luke, just relating is all. Vivian is a tough one for a day hike. I've done it about a dozen times as a one - dayer, but now in my late 50's...nope!
One thing that might help big time are trekking poles. You didn't mention if you used them or not. Going up hill, I find them most beneficial. Going down, just the same. There's a certain technique to getting the most benefit out of them, but well worth the cost.
How about, next time, doing this as an overnighter? High Creek is a wonderful spot to spend the night, with a light day pack for the summit the next day.

: My brother and I along with a friend
: summited San G on Tuesday. My
: brother had done it before but had
: camped at High Creek. We decided to
: go for it in one day. Hit the trail
: at 7:00 (an hour later than we
: wanted too) and Summited by 3:00. I
: have a sore hipflexor that was
: making it hard to move quick.
: The weird part is all three of us
: started to have horrible knee pain
: between High Creek and Halfway, by
: the time we got to Vivian, we were
: at a crawling pace maybe .5MPH if we
: were lucky. I know its a hard hike,
: I'm not in the best of shape but I
: play Ice Hockey every week and skate
: practice as well, I ride my bike
: often and my friend plays soccer.
: Non of us are overweight. We were
: miserable coming down, I've never
: seen anything like it. We saw
: people jogging up and down, but we
: felt like we were gonna die! Anyone
: else ever had that horrible knee
: pain? Its been 3 days and I still
: can't walk down my stairs.
